The new monastery building, designed by Zurich architect Walter Moser, was completed in 1970 and provides space for over 200 Dominican nuns. In the 1980s, the wing of the building with boarding school and school was opened to the public as an educational and meeting place. The brutalist architecture is characterized by raw exposed concrete and an emphasis on construction.
The new lighting is both an energy-efficient refurbishment and an atmospheric upgrade for use as a catering and event area. It is integrated into the powerful architecture with a restrained intervention in the building fabric. Precise and calm lighting is intended to preserve the character of the building as a place of refuge and tranquillity.
